Guide for Authors

 We are grateful that you have chosen this journal to publish your scientific research. The editorial board will choose the best and most effective research according to the journal's mission and mission to develop new scientific ideas.

The journal believes that all research done by dear researchers is valuable and useful, however, the mission of the journal and the regulations of the Ministry of Science define the framework and standards that must be followed when publishing articles. Thus, we need your assistance, dear colleague, to help us fulfill our mission and play a significant role in developing urban planning knowledge in our country.

Please read the authors' guide carefully and upload your article after following the guidelines. Your article will be carefully reviewed by the chief editor as a first step and a decision regarding the arbitration or its return will be made according to the consensus of the respected editorial board. This journal's refereeing manifesto focuses on three important principles to respect the rights of authors:

  • Fair judgment
  • Constructive criticism
  • Unity of the procedure

To ensure author rights are protected, journal judges have been informed. As the three sides of the knowledge production triangle, authors, reviewers, and journal managers all share a common goal, namely the development of urban planning knowledge. To achieve this common goal, we have developed the following standards.

 

About the article:

  • Articles must be the result of original scientific or research work and have not been published previously in another publication, either domestically or internationally, or in the collections of articles from seminars or scientific conferences, or submitted simultaneously to another publication.
  • In the journal, only research articles are evaluated. In addition to research articles, review articles are accepted from experienced authors and pioneers in the theoretical field of urban planning, as long as they are aligned with the journal's aims and objectives.
  • In addition to the first page of the article, the names of the authors should not be mentioned elsewhere in the article.
  • Student theses must be accompanied by the name of the supervisor, the title of the field, and the university name when used. The articles derived from the thesis and theses are published together with the names of the supervisor, advisers, and students, and under the supervision of the supervisor.
  • Please explain in the gratitude section if you used the financial or spiritual support of an organization or individual.
  • The authors are responsible for the validity of the article from a scientific and legal perspective. The editors of Urban Planning Knowledge quarterly journal reserve the right to accept, reject, or edit articles at any stage of the publication process.
  • Articles that are submitted that do not fit within the journal's mission in the theoretical field of urban planning will not be evaluated and will not be considered by the journal's chief editor or editor board.
  • Persian is the publication's official language. The article should be written fluently and free of errors in Persian grammar and writing conventions. It is recommended that the maximum number of pages be 17.
  • The article structure must be set and submitted based on the template file.
  • Referencing and bibliography should be in accordance with APA style. This page provides instructions for writing in APA style.

English extended abstract setting format:

English extended abstracts consist of three pages of full text and important tables, maps, and diagrams. The English references to the main article are added to it. Once the references have been added, the English abstract may consist of five pages in total. This does not pose any problems. Be sure to include (in Persian) in parentheses at the end of Persian references converted into English. References should also be prepared and submitted in APA format.

Books and reports:

In the text: last name of the author(s), year of publication, number of page(s).

Example: (Ahmadi, 2013, 25)

In the list of references: surname and name of the author(s), (year of publication), full title of the book (edition?), name of the translator(s), place of publication: name of the publisher.

Example: Ahmadi, Hassan. (2012). Basics of behavioral sciences research. Tehran: Sociologists.

 Articles:

In the text: last name of the author(s), year of publication, number of page(s).

 Example: (Zali, 1389: 22)

In the list of references: surname and name of the author(s) of the article, (year of publication), full title of the article, name of the publication, period, number, page number of the article in the relevant publication.

Web­ sites:

In the text: last name of the author­(s), first name of author(s), year of publication, month (if mentioned)

The Urban Planning Knowledge journal will receive 4 million Rials for the processing of articles following Clause A of Article 3 of the Promulgated Regulations dated 02/01/1400 No. 16042. This fee covers the costs of reviewing, preparing, and publishing each article from the spring issue of 1400. The authors may pay the above amount through the following link (the electronic payment system of Guilan University).
